Our curriculum is centralized around the Health Related components of Fitness:
Flexibility
Cardiovascular Endurance
Strength
Muscular Endurance.
We introduce the vocabulary in grade 6 and work with the terminology over the three years at the Middle School. We discuss the difference between Health Related Fitness (introduced in Individual Fitness) and Skill Related Fitness Components (focused in Physical Education.) The Skill Related Components of Fitness are: hand-eye coordination, balance, reaction time, power, speed, and agility. Attached you will find a STUDY GUIDE to help you with the terminology. In addition, the gym has posters and examples. Lastly, each lesson has a FITNESS FOCUS that is introduced and reviewed daily. You can DOWNLOAD the docx file below.
